Tui's Birthday and another pool

semi-overcast 38 °C

Friday night we were invited to Bank's house where they were having a little dinner for Tui's birthday. There's not much to say other than it was so nice to be included. A beautiful dinner cooked by hand by Banks' mum. Traditional Thai food at a traditional Thai house in Sai Yok Yai. We were so welcome, had such a great time and even got to experience a ride on a motorbike and side-cart to get to Banks.

Following our meal we had two motorbikes. Noel and I got on ours and Tui and Aote got on there's. All was fine until there's ran out of oil. We were very confused as what was going to happen. I said we would ride on and get help from the school (it was 11pm though). No, the plan was to do it the Thai way. Basically this consisted of Me and Aote on the duff bike while Noel and Tui balanced on the working bike, alongside our broken one with Tui pushing our one with his foot.

Well, after almost dying by a passing truck and a few bike on bike collisions we decided to push. This was not nice. Uphill, 32 degrees, humid and after about 4 very large beers. Hey ho, that was my exercise for the month!

Following our ordeal, Noel and I decided to go the only resort nearby that had a pool. It had been so hot and sticky and there are no beaches so we just wanted to relax in the sun for a day. Luckily they did let us use the pool. I mean, it is low season and we are teachers. It may have helped that a student of mine was there also.

It was so nice to sunbath and swim for a few hours. Top up the tan, you know. xxx
