The next few days Noel and I did some shopping and sightseeing of the tourist areas.

Silom is crazy. There are like 5 huge shopping centres on one intersection. They all differ. One is Gucci, Channel, Hermes and other high end brands. MBK is the cheap market type shopping centre full of copies of electricals, clothes and everything else you could want. The others we didnt even get in. We spent 6 hours in one!

The Lettuce Palace
Suan Pakkad Palace

The next day we went to see the Victory Monument and Lettuce Palace. We didnt make it to the monument as it didnt seem worth seeing a large stone statue in the middle of a roundabout in 40 degree heat! We did make it to the Lettuce Palace.

This complex was for the Prince and his family. They actually grew lettuce's here. It was there oasis in the centre of Bangkok. It also houses one of the most important architectural Thai pavilions that exists in Thailand. It was brought to his palace from another and restored for his wifes 50th birthday. The gardens are beautiful as are the houses which you walk round. You really do get a feel for the Thai living style for the rich in those days.

The house also showcases the worlds most important found artifacts of pottery, jewelry and household collections such as Monk fans, a replica thrown and loads of other stuff!!!! Too much to mention!

The royal barge, Kao Kung Bayam, is also a stunning boat which is housed here.

Patpong

The Go-Go bar area. What an experience! No sooner had we got off the BTS railway when we were recommended to a restaurant via Tuk-Tuk which only cost 20BHT. Little did we know that the restaurant was quite pricey and when we tried to get a Tuk-Tuk back, he wanted 100BHT for the same journey. Of course we said no and walked. When back at Patpong, the same guy then took us to the Go Go area. We ended up in a bar with almost naked men dancing on the bar and drinks were a flat rate of 300BHT! Thats £6 a drink! So pricey. Noel was panicking that they had date-raped our drinks so he didnt drink his. I did and when we left I pretended I felt very sick! I am so mean!

An expensive night but worth it to see! Sorry, no photos were allowed!!!
